EU to unlink Sberbank, 2 more Russian banks from SWIFT

BRUSSELS, Jun 2 (PRIME) -- The sixth package of the E.U.’s anti-Russian sanctions envisages unlinking top bank Sberbank, two more Russian banks and a Belarusian bank from the international interbank settlement system SWIFT, the French delegation in the European Council said in a Twitter account on Thursday.

Bloomberg reported citing sources that the other two Russian banks are Credit Bank of Moscow and Russian Agricultural Bank, and that the new package will also include a ban on insuring vessels, shipping Russian oil to third states, that is to come into force in six month.

The full list of the fresh restrictions is to be published on Friday.

The French delegation said that the sanctions will also cover representatives of Russia’s military and security officials, businessmen, mass media representatives and their families.

The E.U. will also prohibit work of three Russia’s media organizations on its territory.

The sanctions also envisage a ban on imports of Russian oil by the sea and additional restrictions on exports of chemicals and technologies.
